strugglin’

May 21st, 2007

It’s been a while since I posted anything. I’ve been struggling…pretty much with life. Life comes at you hard sometimes and often when you are taking the heat, you are sometimes at a loss for words. That seems to be where i am right now. I’m certain that soon many words will come out of the place I am in right now, but until then…I will have to refrain. But to keep any readers pacified until i come out with these new words, I have recently (last week) wrote a song called ‘life’ and although the music really makes the song complete, I figured I would post the song here. I was one of those songs that (especially the last bridge part) I looked at and said to myself, ‘where did that come from?’ so here it is…enjoy!

Displace Me!

May 6th, 2007

banditocoffin
Well it has been a week since me and my wife slept outside in a cardboard coffin for two with about 4500-5000 other people at Magnuson Park in Seattle. As you probably read before in my other post about this, we displaced ourselves from our homes for Invisible Children’s nationwide ‘Displace Me’ event to help bring more awareness to those in dire need in Northern Uganda. It was quite a night!

So I decided to copy my friend Matt and post my own ‘On Notice’ blog, so hopefully this goes over OK and I don’t get anyone wanting to sue me! So here goes my own first ‘On Notice’:

Celtic Evening Prayer

May 2nd, 2007

cdp
This is the evening prayer from my Celtic Daily Prayer book from the Northumbria Community and I think it is a helpful and healing prayer, especially in times of trial and struggle. We used it in our Solas gathering last Sunday night and when I read it, it helps me to direct my heart in joy to the Lord in the midst of my own trials. So I hope that it will help others. Here it is:

Lord, You have always given
bread for the coming day;
and though I am poor;
today I believe.

Lord, You have always given
strength for the coming day;
and though I am weak,
today I believe.

Lord, You have always given
peace for the coming day;
and though of anxious heart,
today I believe.

Lord, You have always kept me
safe in trials;
and now, tried as I am,
today I believe

Lord, You have always marked
the road for the coming day;
and though it may be hidden,
today I believe.

Lord, You have always spoken
when time was ripe;
and though You be silent now,
today I believe.

Happy Anniversary to Us!

April 27th, 2007

Today is my 11 year anniversary and this post is to send a tribute to my beautiful wife, Vicki! I am so blessed to have such an incredible woman to share my life with. So filled with compassion and generosity that I am envious of her heart to help others selflessly. She is more beautiful today than the day we met almost 13 years ago. She has always been supportive of me and my ventures and such a strong foundation for my life. Thanks be to God for my soul-mate, who happens to be my best friend! Here’s to you! I will love you always!
